Brush up on your
Spring Cleaning...

So when was the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes, changed powder puffs and threw away your sponge?

Did you know that oils and bacteria build up over time on your applicators and can cause breakouts and uneven applications in your makeup? It is recommended that you clean your brushes at least once a week. Who has time for that? We all do thanks to the number one selling instant brush cleaning product in the country, Brush Off. All you have to do is spray it directly on your brushes and wipe off on a paper towel. Boom, you’re done! No hassle with getting everything wet or long drying times. You can immediately use your clean brushes and be on your way…

Colour Basis is proud to introduce Brush Off to our collection of makeup products designed for a demanding, busy lifestyle.  Click here to order.

Still using powder puffs and sponges? Check out the Cover It Foundation Brush and Cotton Tail Powder Brush and see what the pros use!

Only

Time to polish up on a few things~these are a few of my favorite things, teeth! Are yours looking a bit dull? Really stop and look at them in the mirror. Coffee, tea, soft drinks, tobacco and age all add a layer of colour to your teeth and they need to be brightened from time to time. There are many methods for this on the market, if you need lots of brightening or want it instantly, talk to your dentist about laser whitening. The tray method is also popular with dentists and now there are a number of brighteners available at your local drugstore. I tried Crest Whtestripes with favorable results after a couple of weeks.

Tip: Don’t lighten too much so it looks artificial.  Your teeth should not more than a shade or two lighter be than the whites of your eyes. Nothing brightens our day more than a genuine, beautiful smile from someone, let it be from you!

This Way, Ladies

Sometimes you just need to lash out! With your eyes that is… False lashes make THE biggest difference in defining your eyes and having them “pop” on camera. My favorites are Ardell #110 lashes with Duo glue. They are now available at Colour Basis with a discounted three month supply for those of you who wear them everyday.

Learning to apply them can be a bit tricky; you need to give yourself at least four times trying to put them on before you scream. It’s WORTH the effort and gets easier quickly!

TIP: Check the width of the lash; it may be too wide for your eye. Use clippers and cut off 2-4 knots starting from the inner corner. Hold the lash in one hand while gently squeezing a bead of glue along the base of the lash. Lay that lash down and apply the glue to the second one. The glue needs to “set” for about 30 seconds before you apply it. Now you are ready to apply the first lash!
