Get a Head Start on Fall….

So it's time again for cooler weather which means brisk air, frisky pets (and people) and a great night's sleep under the warm covers.  I love this time of year!  Now that it is time to get your heaters cranked back up for the season ~ let's not forget what the change of the climate does to our skin, hair and scalp.  IT DRIES US OUT!!!  Now is the time to start using a moisturizer every morning with an SPF of at least 15 on your face as well as a body moisturizer all over at night.  For those of you with dry skin to start with, you need to step up from a lotion to a cream for the added moisturizing benefit.  Keeping your skin well moisturized keeps you looking younger and feeling better.  No itchy, dry skin. And heading into fall, we mustn't forget about dry scalp and dandruff.  Nothing spoils a well dressed person's look as much as white flakes on their shoulders unless it's snow!  Everyone notices, no one wants to say anything…so take charge and pay attention to your scalp over the next couple of months.  If it starts to itch and flake, you need to use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for dry

scalp or one specifically for dandruff if that's the case.  If you don't look at your scalp, please at least look at your jacket shoulders 'cause every body else does!

"Tis the season to layer it on…for clothing it's fine, just make sure you don't with your makeup…  Wearing makeup on camera is a necessary evil I know most of you hate.  As you know, it does make a big a difference when applied properly.  The main thing with your foundation is just to even out your skin tones.  You don't want to "cake" it on too heavy.  I really like the Colour Basis Hi-Def Concealer Foundation Stics set with Colour Basis Oil Control Matting Powder because they give good coverage without looking or feeling heavy.  You can still see your skin through it, which is a good thing.  For added colour in the fall as your skin lightens from the lack of sun exposure, you can use a darker powder to compensate.  I like the Colour Basis 2-Way Powder Foundations in the darker colours for this technique (applied with the Cotton Tail Brush) as opposed to a bronzer. 

It works the same; it just doesn't have the orange, sparkle cast to it that most bronzers on the market have.  It is more natural looking and definitely more manly!

Don't you just love fall clothing?  The colours are so much deeper, textures richer and softer with so much more elegance… Now is the time to get into your fall wardrobe for work.  Don't forget to keep colour in your winter wardrobe.  The Teal Blues and Rich Greens are really hot for fall as well as Burgundy, Cranberry and Paprika.  If you are wearing a dark suit remember you need that pop of colour near your face with a collared blouse.  Also, warm up your blush and lipstick just a touch for the new season.  Your eye makeup should pretty much stay the same.  If you are one of the MANY who are wearing false lashes on the air, make sure you are wearing the Ardell 110's, especially if you are hi-def.  They are the ONLY ones that look "real" on the air.  We stock them year round as they are sometimes hard to find and we even have them discounted since you buy them in bulk!  If you have colour questions, email or call me and I will be happy to help!
