Zit Happens…

Ever notice that pimples appear at the most inopportune moments? But seriously, is there really EVER an opportune moment for a zit? Uh, no.

To help prevent breakouts, exfoliate (remove dead skin cells) regularly. Using a cleanser with glycolic or salicylic acids will help slough off the top skin cells and clear out dirt and oil.

Also, try not to touch your face during the day with your hands, cell phone or telephone receiver as that puts added bacteria and oils on your face.

Okay, so you tried to prevent and you still broke out, now what? First, is it a surface zit or an “underground” cystic face killer? Press on it, if it hurts and you feel a small knot it is cystic. DON”T squeeze it! Go to the dermatologist and have it injected with cortisone to immediately reduce pain, redness and swelling.  It’s about 30 bucks and well worth it! If it’s just a surface nuisance apply a pimple product with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide like Biore Double Agent found in drugstores for under 10 bucks. It will speed up the process by drying it out and clearing it up much faster than just left on its own. At night, you can use hydrogen peroxide to clean an “open zit” and follow with a tiny amount of Neosporin (both found in drugstores) to speed up the healing process.

Hair’s the deal guys….nose hairs!

If you did not get a nose hair trimmer in your stocking and you don’t own one, now is the time.

Now let's all try to remain adults here. According to wisegeek.com, not all grooming aids command the same level of respect for their work, but a nose hair clipper does perform a vital service for the user and there are few other devices which can duplicate its function. Nasal and ear hairs are important filtering agents which protect and defend their respective hosts, but they become unsightly if left unchecked. For those who want to perform a very thorough grooming regimen, a nose hair clipper is an important tool to own.

The basic technique for trimming unwanted ear and nose hair is to activate the nose hair clipper and carefully insert it into the proper canal. As individual hairs enter the cutting chamber, sharp rotary blades slice through them cleanly. Some nostril hair is necessary for protection against dust and germs, so the user shouldn't aim for complete nasal baldness.

The most unsightly nose hairs protrude from the nostrils and may blend into the mustache area. A beard and mustache trimmer can maintain the mustache line, but only a nose hair clipper can successfully trim back the protruding nasal hairs.

Eye have some news for you…

Wearing pencil liner underneath eyes appears much too heavy on camera. If your lower lashes are thick and dark, you don’t need ANY eye liner underneath your eyes. The shadows cast from your natural lashes will be enough definition on your lower eyes.

If you have light or very sparse lower lashes you may put a very thin line of the same colour eye shadow you wear in your crease along the base of your lower lashes. The Soften It smudge brush or Frame It brow/liner brush works great with this technique. The key is to keep the added definition minimal as it will appear heavier and thicker on camera on this part of your eye.

Whether your lashes are light or dark, do not put mascara on lower lashes! Soft, approachable, beautiful eyes is the goal. Tivo yourself & try this and see the difference it makes!
