Let’s face it, gorgeous!

High Definition, Makeup and You

With HD resolution being up to six times that of regular TV, the clarity can be shocking; good and bad.  Traditional makeup looks heavy and theatrical. Airbrush application of foundation is the choice of seasoned HD guru's, celebrities and professional artists and is the technique Colour Basis recommends for you and your station.

High Definition is a huge investment and the surest sign of cutting corners is unpolished and over-made talent that is obvious to everyone.  The smallest check a station will write with HD is for the makeup and it makes the BIGGEST impact, visually and emotionally for talent and viewers.  Make sure your station doesn't overlook this critical step in your its preparation and success with HD.

“I now put on <your HD Airbrush> makeup quicker than the old stuff and I absolutely love it.  It doesn’t look or feel like I have makeup on when I go out between shows and I don’t get it all over my shirt collars.  <My co-anchor> is also in love with it!”

We love hearing from you. Let us know how we are doing!

Men, Knotty Can Be Nice!

Tie knots that is… they are an important accessory in men’s suiting apparel.  Larger tie knots are more fashionable with current trends in men's suiting.  A good way to determine how large your knot should be is to look at your face and neck.  Your tie knot should be in proportion with your facial features and body size.  If you have a larger nose, you should have a larger knot and if you have a slender neck with a narrow nose your knot should not be too large or thick.  It's all about creating harmony with your clothing and your features with colour and size.

Once you determine your correct knot size, spend time to perfect tying it. Your knot presentation says a lot about you and your image, success and confidence!

“Your tie knot should be in proportion to your facial features and body size.”

Ladies, Pearls of Wisdom…

“If you are getting calls about your great jewelry, your viewer is most likely not listening to what you are saying.”

Pearls are the ultimate luxury accessory for on camera and off.  Proper accessories on-camera are crucial.  They should be proportionate in size to your features and reflect your bone structure.  If you have delicate features such as fine hair, small nose and teeth your accessories should be more delicate as well.  Just as medium features should have medium sized accessories. You don’t want to wear anything that will over power you or your message.  Nothing too distracting either.  If you are getting calls about your great jewelry, your viewer is most likely not listening to a word you are saying.  People are like fish and we LOVE to look at sparkle, shine, and movement.  Distracting necklaces and earrings are like fishing lures for us and we subconsciously follow it with our eyes instead of concentrating on what you are saying.

Rules of thumb for accessories:

  • Necklace drops no larger than a quarter
  • Necklaces should only be in silver, gold or other metal; no leather or string
  • No dangly earrings
  • No rhinestone or colour sparkle cut stones
  • Matte finishes look best in gold and silver
